Real Magic

Don Draper, creative director of Sterling Cooper Advertising, helps Kodak with their new slide projector, which the company calls ‘the wheel’ owing to its novel (for 1960) round slide tray.

Mad Men does many things well (evoking 1960, storytelling, resexualizing cigarettes and brown liquor).

Rare for television, Mad Men creates moments of real magic, as when an advertising pitch transcends itself, validating the fantasy that there is art — even truth — in this profession of mirrors and deception.
